This recent project masterfully blends classical architectural principles with the charm of Nantucket’s historic vernacular design.
The interior architecture, designed by Timothy Bryant Architect, highlights detailed moldings, including fireplace mantels, door casings, baseboards, cornices and wall paneling and custom cabinetry. Drawing inspiration from classical architecture, the interiors focus on proportion, symmetry, and refined craftsmanship. These timeless elements are thoughtfully adapted to reflect Nantucket’s unique setting, incorporating traditional New England forms and materials to evoke a sense of place and history.
As the architectural consultant, Timothy Bryant worked closely with the interior designer to replan and refine all interior rooms, achieving a harmonious balance between the overall design vision and the essence of Nantucket’s vernacular architecture with responsibilities extended to supervising shop drawings, coordinating designs, and ensuring seamless integration of every detail.
The exterior, structure was designed by Botticelli and Pohl and complements the interiors beautifully. Featuring weathered shingles, simple gable rooflines, and understated ornamentation, the design pays homage to Nantucket’s architectural heritage while enhancing the richly detailed interiors.
Photographer Pieter Estersohn has captured the elegance and nuance of this design, showcasing the seamless fusion of classical refinement with Nantucket’s timeless charm.
